It’s almost the new moon in Gemini, the sign of communication and movement and I am going on a trip so I thought it would be the perfect time to create a sigil for safe travel to inscribe on the inside of my luggage tag. This sigil can also be placed in cars under floor mats, in the glove compartment, on a slip of paper in your bag – anywhere you’d like.
I use a combination of methods to create this sigil. I gathered my new moon candle a few crystals to represent the energies I would like on this trip – rose quartz for peace, clear quartz for clarity and amplification and smoky quartz for protection.
I write down my intention of “safe travels” on the piece of paper. I cross out the vowels and the duplicate letters to revisit later. Then I start connecting the lines from one letter to another with the remaining consonants of my intention. I don’t go in any particular order when creating this, I just play around with it until it’s aesthetically pleasing and feels good to me. I started to draw a line from F to S, then up to T, down to R, back up to V, and then down to L creating a zigzag pattern with a straight arching line. Once I am satisfied with the lines, I look at the placement of the vowels and duplicate letters. To add some whimsy and make the sigil feel more witchy, I doodle in those spaces. I draw an ellipses because I want the journey to continue, but if you’re making this at home you can use any doodles that correspond with your intention. I also want this journey to feel protected, calm, grounded and connected – all things the elements can provide, so I draw a pentagram at the space where the E is. Finally, I draw a spiral where the duplicate S is to represent that duplication and to allow the energy to continue to flow back through the design.

And that’s it! Whether you choose to use this sigil for safe travels or craft your own, I hope that my method helped you. I would love to see what you create, please tag @witchofhillcresthouse on Instagram.
