As a cottage witch, my home is the center of my magickal practice. I am also guided by the flow of the seasons and astrology, so integrating the two was the next natural step.
WITCH TIP: to find your chart go to astro-charts.com. Enter your birth information. Switch to Whole Signs houses.
An astrological chart is made up of 12 houses. Using whole signs, these houses are divided into 12 equal pieces like a pizza pie. Each house represents a different area of life.
But did you know that they can also represent different areas of your home as well?
The 12 ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES OF THE HOME
FIRST HOUSE is the house of the self, our appearance and identity. It is known as our rising sign or ascendant, and it is a representation of how others perceive us.
In the home, this represents your vanity, the bathroom countertop where you get ready, mirrors, or the closet where you hang your clothes.
SECOND HOUSE is the house of money, material possessions, and things of value.
In the home, this represents your lockboxes or safes, and your prized collections, any family heirlooms or jewelry.
THIRD HOUSE is the house of learning and communication.
In the home, this represents the gathering spaces like a living room, your cellphone or other devices you use to learn and communicate, your study, or library.
FOURTH HOUSE is the heart of the home, family, your roots, and the place you feel the most secure.
In the home, this is typically the kitchen or the hearth, but if the heart of your home is somewhere else – focus on that.
FIFTH HOUSE is the house of creativity, fun, and childlike wonder. It’s bold and artistic.
In the home, this is your craft room, hobby, corner, or artistic spaces. Whether it’s a basket by a chair in your living room, or a garage filled with painting supplies or woodworking tools.
SIXTH HOUSE is the house of health, service, and daily routines and rituals.
In the home, this is your cleaning closet, laundry room, and your medicine cabinet.
SEVENTH HOUSE is the house of partnerships – be they the romantic or the business type.
In the home, this may represent a shared bedroom, or an office space where you conduct business.
EIGHTH HOUSE is the house of sex, death, and rock’n’roll. It’s also the house of things that are taboo, our shadows, and shared resources.
In the home, this is usually the attic or the basement spaces, and a shared primary bedroom (especially what’s under the bed).
NINTH HOUSE is the house of knowledge, philosophy, and travel.
In the home, this is usually a porch or the entryway, or a library.
TENTH HOUSE is the house of status and career.
In the home, this is the study, workspace, or desk.
ELEVENTH HOUSE is the house of aspirations, friends and larger community.
In the home, this is most often the living room or gathering spaces.
TWELFTH HOUSE is the house of transformation, dreams, the subconscious and intuition.
In the home, this may be the bath, your bed, or your dedicated sacred space.
